Throughout his career, he harnessed his passion for improving the quality of lives and increasing Shareholder values to motivate entire companies with fresh visions for the intrinsic value of products and services in FMCG, telecommunications, Renewable energy, and other industries. Stephen Essien is Business leader, an ICF professional certified Coach and an IPAAD Certified trainer with over 18 years’ experience in telecoms and in FMCG, he formerly worked with Zain in 2008 as Senior Manager of Call Centre before the company rebranded to Airtel. He then moved to Vodafone as Head of Vendor Management and finally was elevated to the role of, Head, Customer, and user Experience where he led Vodafone to improve on Service Delivery and service quality through many projects he introduced. Including being the first to introduce service delivery via social media. After 4 years of high performance in Vodafone, he moved to Tigo Ghana as the Customer Operations Director where he led his team to win many awards including the company’s first ever Customer Service award and recognition at the 2015 AfricaCom Awards in Cape Town, South Africa for introducing Excellent Service delivery in the Telco space in Africa. After 24 months of dedication, Stephen was awarded with a citation of being an exemplary leader across all Tigo Operating Countries and was promoted to the role of Chief Business Officer. As the CBO of Tigo Ghana, He led his team to rebuild the enterprise unit, improved on the enterprise unit’s route to Market grow strategy and was able to grow its customer base by 85% and achieve over 100% in revenues in the first year In 2018, after successfully leading Tigo Ghana’s Business unit, he moved on to pick a role as Country Managing Director for ZEGHA Energy LTD, a renewable energy company in Ghana built but EDF, The biggest supplier in world, OGE, the biggest renewable energy company in Africa and CH group, a massive business conglomerate, where he led a team to introduce Solar Home Systems to off-grid communities in Ghana.
Stephen Essien is currently the Group CX Director, Africa for D. Light Solar where he supervises Commercial activities such as Collections, KYC, and Experience delivery across operations in the Africa and so much involve Voice of Customer and shaping the Business Last mile strategy He is passionate about changing lives and shareholder profitability and that impacts every aspect of business with the most noticeable influence on leadership, customers, and employees. To really change lives, he strongly believes in developing realistic KPIs, OKRs, and metrics to track success. Additionally, he has over 10 years of experience advising business leaders, board members, shareholders, and coaching business leaders on how to transform overall business strategy with multi-year plans. As a validation of his career perspective, Stephen has mounted many international platforms and spoken at several conferences about business leadership, Commercial Transformation, Customer Experience, Customer acquisition, Customer retention, and corporate management best practices. He has overachieved over 600 hours of business coaching in 2021, trained over 4000 salesmen in Ghana and west Africa for Telecoms, Renewable Energy D2D sales. In his private life, he is a life and business coach and has guided and coached many executives in the business world.
